I believe the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio is the BEST 2018 iPad keyboard there is and in this review, I will give you my two cents.
When I got my 2018 iPad Pro, I decided to go for the smart cover and not the Apple keyboard folio because I wanted to keep a light and slim profile for the tablet.
Given the fact that in front of me I have a 12.9” screen I thought I could get used to typing on the on screen’s full-size keyboard when necessary. That was the case for the first 4 months of owning it.
Recently, however, I kept longing a physical keyboard for those cases when I am not sitting on a desk, or I don’t’ want to use my MacBook. I found myself missing the typing experience on my old iPad Smart Keyboard, so, I went ahead and bought the keyboard folio and BOY WAS I GLAD.

I totally agree with you. I got the keyboard folio for my 12.9. The number one criteria for me was battery. I was not ready to charge another accessory and wanted the slim design. I’ve not regretted getting it. The only area i miss is having backlight but am rarely in a dark environment. It has made my iPad Pro push productivity up to 70% so far with doing more on it than my Mac. For me, i also have a sleeve. So when i need to write on notes, which happens a lot with the Apple Pencil, i just place it on my sleeve. got it right in my view because i don’t feel strain, or miss writing on paper and hey, am also then friendly to our trees 🙂 What blows me away is split view as is can now have multiple split views of different apps. So can literally have 6 or more apps on different split views and just. CMD + tab to get to an app. It’s interesting thou that i never used split views on the Mac but on the iPad Pro, like using it a lot. So, i like the keyboard a lot and for me personally, have not seen any other that appeals to my specific preference.
How is it for lap use?
I’ve used other keyboards on older iPads. And I liked them. They had backlights and Bluetooth and all the bells and whistles. But as far as I can tell, the typing experience on the Smart Keyboard Folio is pretty much unrivaled. People may find design issues with it. But overall nothing tops it.

Where can I find a complete list of all the functions? When I held the Command key down, at 3:58, I did not get a list of shortcuts like you did. Also, do I need to turn on Bluetooth on my iPad to use the keyboard? Thanks

Do you think the apple keyboard folio provides enough bend protection? I’m unsure about purchasing this vs the Logitech one because of my worries that I might accidentally bend my iPad
I’m thinking on getting an iPad Pro with Apple keyboard and the Moko smart folio. It’s the same as Apple’s at a fraction of the cost. I really love the fact that those keep a thin profile to your iPad.
